About

SMFA partnered with the City of Charles Sturt, the South Australian Amateur Soccer League (SAASL) and the Grange Cricket Club (GCC) to deliver a flagship sporting and community facility at Grange Recreation Reserve.

The project delivers a flexible, inclusive and sustainable venue for both club and community use, shaped through extensive stakeholder engagement.

The building responds to its coastal setting with curved brickwork defining entries and softening its form. Durable masonry at ground level addresses heavy use and marine conditions, with lightweight upper cladding providing contrast. Colours and materials reference the coastal landscape, complemented by integrated planting.

Ground-level facilities include inclusive changerooms, umpire amenities, a canteen, public amenities, tiered spectator seating and SAASL offices. A first-floor function space and commercial kitchen support events and club operations, with panoramic views across the Reserve and Adelaide Hills.

Sustainability measures include an all-electric design, low-carbon materials, enhanced insulation, high-performance glazing and shading, and tree retention and planting, with the roof futureproofed for expansion.

Located near the carpark and oriented to the playing fields, the building supports future reserve development and includes a central spine corridor enabling flexible separation of community and administrative spaces.
