Transforming the existing Technical Studies building at Christies Beach High School, the new STEM Learning Hub achieves a balance between tradition and innovation, providing both indoor and outdoor spaces for investigation and discovery.
Upgrades to the existing Technical Studies building saw traditional technical specialist facilities combined with modern flexible spaces to create a STEM Learning Hub. The vibrant “Learning Street” provides a central spine through the building to connect the various Learning Areas and provide a breakout space for collaboration, group work, and individual creative thinking.
Specialised “making” laboratories branch off the Learning Street, each dedicated to a distinct focus that encourage guided exploration, experimentation, and discovery. Externally, a new entry reflects the internal functions of the building, and an outdoor learning area allows for varied student learning experiences.
The new STEM Learning Hub at Christies Beach High School provides a dynamic space where traditional technical expertise merges with modern to support a flexible learning pedagogy.
